Mountain Leader Award Training

 

The below courses satisfy the requirements of the Residential section of the Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. They are however open to others.

Green Action

A 5 day course that gives participants a chance to experience a range of outdoor and conservation activities, including climbing, caving, dry stone walling and woodland management.

Duration:
5 days.

Cost:

£299

Dates and booking:
Mon 12th - Fri 16th April 2010

Mon 26th - Fri 30th July 2010

Sun 24th - Fri 29th October 2010

If you wish to book a place on a course please complete and return a booking form, along with a deposit cheque or purchase order.

Requirements include:

  • Aged 16-24 years old

Rock Action

A 5 day rock climbing improvers course for young people to be run in partnership with "Love to Climb".  The course will be directed by Katherine Schirrmacher, an experienced coach, instructor and successful climber in many aspects of the sport.

Duration:
5 days.

Cost:
£450

Dates and booking:
Mon 26th - 30th July 2010.

Requirements include:

  • Aged 12-17 years old
  • Some climbing experience - whether it be indoors or out.

Mountain Leader Award Training

Our 6 day Mountain Leader Award (not the split course) meet the requirements of the Gold residential and may be appropriate for suitably experienced candidates over 18 years old.

First 'Rock Action' course is a great success!

Seven young people from across the UK joined Katherine Schirrmacher, Jules Barratt and Jill Whittaker (from Thornbridge), for a week's climbing in the Peak District and the first ever Rock Action course.

Thornbridge have hosted 3 creative arts workshops this summer for Sheffield schools, in partnership with SAE (Sheffield Arts Education).
