Outdoor Education - Duke of Edinburgh Award
Thornbridge Outdoors can help support schools to deliver many aspects of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award at all levels - Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Here are some examples of how we can help:
- Expeditions – We can deliver expedition training days / weekends to prepare young people for their expedition, advise on routes and equipment and assist with the remote supervision of groups whilst undertaking their expedition. Training can be based at Thornbridge or at another location if appropriate.
- First Aid – We are able to provide training for First Aid and emergency procedures for young people as part of the expedition training. We can also provide First Aid training courses for staff delivering the Duke of Edinburgh programme in your school.
- Residential – You can complete your Gold Residential at Thornbridge Outdoors by booking onto our popular ‘Green Action’ course. This is a 5-day residential which involves conservation activities (such as dry stone walling / working with willow / wood craft) as well as outdoor activities (such as rock climbing / caving / abseiling / high ropes / problem solving etc). Whilst completing the Green Action course, it is also possible to achieve the ‘John Muir award.
