Outdoor Education - Secondary Schools
Thornbridge Outdoors can provide programmes designed specifically to meet the needs and requirements of your group.
Here are some examples of programmes recently designed for Secondary Schools:
- Team building programme (for single or multiple days) for Y12 students to promote personal development, teamwork communication and time management skills at the start of their 6th Form.
- Geography field trips at GCSE or ‘A’ Level
- Revision weekends – combine revision with outdoor activities to break up their study / exam preparation.
- A varied and balanced programme of adventure activities, to provide enjoyment and FUN.
- Conservation activities on the Thornbridge site, which can be part of an ‘Eco-Schools’ programme, or as a way of ‘putting something back’ into the environment.
- Activities to develop confidence, teambuilding and communication skills.
- Inclusive activities that challenge and engage children, but ensuring that all can participate and achieve.
- Environmental and conservation activities, working towards and achieving the John Muir Award.
- Programmes for the ‘Gifted and Talented’ designed to challenge and extend personal skills and knowledge.
- Team building activities for newly formed classes, provide the opportunity for team development as well as enhancing self-confidence and self-esteem.
- School Inclusion – working with children with challenging behaviour and special educational needs.
- Risk Management programme – engaging pupils in assessing and managing risk in the outdoors. This could be part of a GCSE / BTEC course if appropriate.
