Bell Tent Village Camping in the Peak District

Unique Group Camping Experience at Thornbridge Outdoors

Available to book from April to early October

The Bell Tent Village offers a memorable camping experience in the heart of the Peak District National Park, ideal for school residentials, youth groups, and family gatherings. With 9 spacious bell tents, each sleeping up to 6 children or 5 adults, it’s a flexible and fun way to enjoy the outdoors.

Guests are welcome to bring additional tents to accommodate larger groups.

Base Camp Facilities

Located next to the Bell Tent Village, the Base Camp building provides essential amenities for campers:

  • Fully equipped kitchen with:
    • Commercial dishwasher
    • Microwave, grill, toaster and instant hot water boiler
    • Commercial upright fridge
    • Large catering cooker and tabletop oven
    • Pantry with chest freezer
  • Dining room seating up to 60 guests
  • Outdoor picnic benches
  • Separate male and female toilets and showers (shared with other centre guests)
  • Outdoor sinks
  • Wi-Fi access in Base Camp and most bell tents

Bell Tent Layout & Sleeping Capacity

The Bell Tent Village includes 9 spacious bell tents, each sleeping approximately 6 children or 5 adults. We recommend a maximum of appropriately 50 people (adults & children combined). To help plan your visit, all groups are asked to complete a Bell Tent List and submit it at reception upon arrival.

Please bring your own sleeping mat, pillow, and sleeping bag.

Availability

  • Midweek (term time): Primarily used by school pupils on residential visits.
  • Weekends & school holidays: Available for private group bookings, either on its own or alongside our indoor accommodation options.

Our Bell Tent Village is available for bookings from April to early October, offering a seasonal outdoor experience in the Peak District. Whether you’re planning a school residential, family gathering, or group retreat, this flexible camping setup is ideal for making the most of our scenic location and facilities.

Note: No dogs are allowed on site, except for trained, registered assistance dogs (please notify us during booking).

Base Camp Winter Use

From October to March, the Base Camp building is available for use by groups staying in our indoor accommodation or visiting as day guests. It provides essential facilities including a catering kitchen, large dining space, additional toilets and showers.

A refundable bond is required for all bookings. This will be returned approximately 10 working days after your departure, provided everything is in order.
