Family camping at Thornbridge is simple, low‑key and informal.
You can expect:

  • A designated area to pitch your tent
  • Access to shared toilet and washing facilities
  • Access to outside pot washing up sinks
  • Parking (no vehicles allowed on the camping areas)
  • Other centre users on site at the same time

This is not a holiday park or a fully serviced campsite – it’s a chance to camp in a peaceful setting that is primarily designed for group and educational use.

What you’ll need to bring

Campers are responsible for their own equipment.
Please bring:

  • Your own tent and sleeping equipment
  • Cooking and washing up equipment and food
  • Everything you need for a self‑sufficient camping stay

A shared outdoor‑centre environment

As Thornbridge Outdoors is an active outdoor centre, campers should be aware that:

  • Youth groups or school groups may be on site
  • Activities may be taking place during the day
  • Facilities are shared rather than private

Many visitors enjoy seeing the centre in use, but it’s important this setting matches your expectations before booking.

  • Advance booking required
  • Limited number of pitches
  • Suitable for small family groups, couples and individuals

This volunteers' week we thank all those who kindly give their time to help support the centre and what we do - including:

The trustees of the Friends of Thornbridge Outdoors who fundraise and give grants to enhance what we offer and reduce barrier to participation. Watch this space and keep 3 October free for their new fundraising challenge walk/run.

The teams from Rab who have kindly used their volunteering days to improve the grounds for our guests.

All of the Peak District Volunteers who help to keep the wonderful wider Peak District fantastic for all visitors and residents.

The team have been working hard to upgrade the campfire areas.
We love hearing of the singing, hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows from guests the following day. #outdoorlearning #makingmemories
